This May, we honor and celebrate the rich history, vibrant cultures, and numerous contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in our community and across the nation. From pioneering leaders and innovative entrepreneurs to the everyday heroes in our neighborhoods, the AAPI community has enriched our society in countless, invaluable ways.
At Metro South Association of REALTORS®, we are proud to support and uplift the voices of the AAPI community, not just this month but throughout the year. We encourage everyone to explore the diverse cultures, attend local AAPI events, support AAPI-owned businesses, and learn more about the profound impact of this vibrant community on our collective history.
Let’s come together to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful diversity that strengthens and beautifies our community. Here's to a month filled with reflection, learning, and appreciation!

MSAR Shows out in Washington!
|
This year's REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C. were some of the most important yet. While our industry is undergoing major change, it is more important than ever that REALTORS® represent our industry at the Local, State, and National Levels. Here are a few wins from the conference:
- Cynthia Brown, Kim Freshwater, and David Sanders met with Senator Jon Ossof, who recently announced half a million dollars in vital funding for safe and affordable homes in Clayton County through Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity.
- Past President Barbara Dyer met with Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, who shares Jon Ossof's affordable housing passion and is an advocate for investing in, recruiting, and training the next generation of aviation workers, something especially important in the Metro South Atlanta area.
- Kim Freshwater met with Representative Mike Collins to discuss issues and advocate for pro-REALTOR®, pro-homeownership legislation in Georgia.
Among those who came to the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings to represent MSAR on a national level were: President Cynthia Brown, President-Elect Kim Freshwater, Women's Council President Stevette Dukes, Past President Barbara Dyer, Executive Director David Sanders, and many other multiple-board members across Georgia! We hope to see you at the Georgia REALTORS® and NAR Legislative Conferences next year!

Do you know someone who is dedicated to advancing fair housing excellence? We’re thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for NAR’s Fair Housing Champion Awards.

Spotlight Outstanding Contributions
Sponsored by Realtor.com®, this prestigious award celebrates REALTORS® who go above and beyond, contributing to thriving neighborhoods and expanding homeownership opportunities.
For example, Eve B. Lee, a community leader, with more than 45 years expanding housing opportunities, and Shadrick Bogany, a prominent figure in Houston real estate, who advocated for homeownership as a means of empowerment, particularly within marginalized communities. Then there’s Paul Yorkis, who, as the 2017 NAR president of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®, successfully advocated for the state government to translate standard real estate forms into languages other than English, all excellent examples of what it means to be a Fair Housing Champion.
$5,000 Prize and Recognition
Winners will earn $5,000 for the housing-related non-profit of their choice. Entries must be submitted by May 31. You can submit a nomination or encourage your members to do the same. The three winners will be honored in an online ceremony in April 2025.
Be part of honoring the champions who advance fair housing excellence. By acknowledging their efforts, you’re amplifying their impact and inspiring others.

Code Of Ethics Completion Requirement By 12/31/2024
|
All REALTORS® are required to complete a course that satisfies NAR's Code of Ethics requirements once every 3-year cycle. Our current cycle (7) started on January 1, 2022 and ends on December 31, 2024. You may use the link below to check your cycle 7 Code of Ethics compliance and take the course, free of charge. Please note that if you are not a new member, you will need to take the course for existing members.

Holly Hoffman, who was a finalist on CBS's "Survivor" (Season 21), will share her insight on how to survive life's challenges, step out of your comfort zone, and push yourself above and beyond your self-limitations. After all, it's our strength in times of difficulty that proves our character and self-worth.

• Juanita McDowell, 3x GAR "Partner in Education (PIE) Instructor of the Year" and president of InMotion Consulting, breaks down how to save time and increase your productivity using Artificial intelligence (AI).
• Lisa Scully, GAR's Immediate Past President, moderates a Broker Panel for attendees to gain insights from women-led brokerages across the state.
• Bobbi Howe, COO for RE/MAX Regional Services and National Speaker on Mental Health, rounds out a day of renewal by discussing goals, time blocking, and self-care.
